I made a decision.

It's my friends birthday on Saturday and as a treat we went to a spa for facials. As I was laying there on that table I had an epiphany, and it was clear as day! I'm not going to produce paper quilt patterns anymore. I'm not going to completely throw out the idea of producing quilt patterns, but part of the epiphany was a big question mark. 

Why? Why have a continued doing this? And the answer is not my favorite kind of answer. 

Because that's what you did when you got into the Industry when I did. You made quilt patterns. You started a pattern company. And so I have found myself on this road that I don't necessarily still belong on. I'm a printmaker, and a textile designer. I love making things. I love sewing. I love quilting. But my heart is not in pattern writing. It's in producing art. 

I would like to say how proud of the work that i've done I am. I think the Colorist is brilliant, and Outfox the Fox is one of the coolest easiest patterns to follow on this green earth. Castle Treasury is a pain in the butt, but there is no denying just how beautiful it is. And my 1001 Peeps book is a literal work of art. It really is, and I am just so pleased with the things that I've created over the past 5 years. 

So with that I'm closing my pattern shop. I'll move my paper good stuff over to my etsy store until I get a more permanent solution, and if I do create a pattern of note, it will be downloadable. 

The biggest thing is that I am recharting my course as a printmaker. That is where my heart is, and when I ask my HF what it is that I am really supposed to be doing, I always get the same answer, "you know what you are supposed to be doing". That's printmaking, people. 

I PROMISE I'm still designing fabric. And I'm still designing a free quilt pattern for the lines to support my peeps and my shops. I'm just correcting the path.

You guys... cleaning out my house has changed me! And the closer I get to it being complete the more things are taking shape for my little future.

Spring Seeds!

wowowowow! I just got back from a 10 day trip/workshop/vacation at Juniper Moon Farm! I am still decompressing, and I haven't quite been able to really sleep since I got back, so I'm a little wired, a little weary, and missing my peeps, and all my new friends (Jerry the Llama). 

So as I collect my thoughts for an epic post, start my seeds for my garden, finish up fabric, send off The Meadow to print, and all around pull myself together I wanted to have a little sale. Because we are starting fresh people. This is a big week for me.

No but really. This quilt has caused me a little heart ache, with it getting lost and what not, but when it got to the farm from Angela on Thursday, it's like all my dreams came true. So is the pattern late? Yes. Is it on its way? Yes. Does it use Hello Pilgrim and most of the back Pearl Bracelets and Jewel Prints? Yes. Is it a pain in the butt? Yes. But can't you see how worth it it all is? I hope so. The pattern will ship in 2 weeks. Shops, if you are selling Hello Pilgrim and want to carry the pattern, let me know, so your order will get turned around immediately. It will also be carried by Checker for sure, so you know.

I'm feeling joyful and hopeful. The feeling of Our House by Crosby Stills Nash and Young pretty much sums up my mood today. An all time favorite. 

I still love everything and everyone. It's amazing!

And one more thing... I still owe you an explanation about Hello Pilgrim, the actual pattern names, and the colorways that peeps are jumbling up. So that's a lot of posts I've promised for this week...

Oh... I forgot something...

I forgot to tell you that I added a baby size pattern to The Colorist right before I sent it to the printers! Meaning that you can either make the full size one (72x80), or the baby peep one (50x50), or both. So you're getting two patterns for the price of one. Which makes me feel good about things. 

It would make the perfect baby quilt. No but seriously though... 

 

the actualization of The Colorist.

The Colorist gets here on Monday. I have all the pre-order envelopes addressed, and I'm turning them around as soon as they get in the door. Same with any new orders. 

Monday is also my last shipping day before I leave for the holidays. So time is of the essence. 

The pattern is beautiful. And BIG! it also has one of my favorite quotes in it:

aside from that it has fully colored/illustrated/photographed instructions, and a gigantic pattern piece to cut out and use. This pattern was quite the production, but I think it will all be worth it. I designed it a year ago, figured out the wheel in March, how to do the background in July, made the real one in September, finished the pattern in early November, and now it is ready for action. 

I can't wait to see the variations you come up with. I've already got a few different ones planned, along with the other 2 colorist tops I already have made waiting in line to be quilted!

As always, I am making way for new patterns and fabric... and as such it has me looking around at what I can move out of here!

fabric bundles, FYI

OK! I am letting everyone know RIGHT NOW.

Tonight at 8:00 PM Mountain Standard time! I am listing 24 fabric bundles. These are not the scrap boxes, so I'm not employing the waiting list, because this is a different product.

The bundle is 50 fat 1/8's (a fat 1/8 is 9x20-22 depending on the WOF). The fabric is Castle Peeps, 1001 Peeps, and Outfoxed. It is the most beautiful rainbow of color in the world. In my opinion. With this bundle, you could easily make at least 3 The Colorist.

The cost is $65, and I will ship international this time, so it's opened up to all my peeps domestic and abroad.

Outfox the Fox

I'm feeling like showing you stuff. I haven't really posted any pics of Outfoxed, and I will, but how about a pattern cover?

I'm not great at waiting to reveal stuff... maybe that's bad... But I thought you might enjoy this, especially you fans of this little thing, here.

And can I just say, I am obsessed with this quilt. The more I look at it, the more I love it. AND the way it goes together, I don't know if I have ever had more fun assembling a quilt. It's a joy, and I don't know if that is super common.

Also, notice the new Outfoxed version of my logo? I'm loving it. There is more stuff... like a full reveal of The Colorist, but that might have to wait a little bit, because I might do the whole fan fare thing. You know?

you might be feeling neglected.

This has been a rough summer! I totally totally totally bit off way more than I could chew...

and I'm feeling a bit depleted.

I still have Diamond Mountain Quilt Along stuff for you, and I'd love to know if you are making progress. I have a substition chart for the purple illuminate if you've come up short, and I might possibly do another video... just to say, hey peeps...

but I've also been working on new things, and since I've been mostly absent, I thought I would give you a little sneak peep. Again, my friend Carolee shot my quilts for me, and Joanna Peterson of Designs by Laura Jo quilted them. There will be just two new patterns this fall... and some surprise Christmas things, but we won't even go there yet.

 

This is The Colorist, and it is going to blow your mind. The pattern will be available, fingers crossed, second week in October.

*Also. I have been doing a bit of cleaning, and I have some fabric to get rid of. I will keep you posted.
