very interesting

I have been struggling to find peace these past few days... I have always liked to spend Thanksgiving alone, because it's an opportunity to have the apartment to myself and get a lot of work done, but I don't know lately. I wish I wasn't alone this year (don't worry I have a place to go on Thanksgiving). I guess I'm not who I used to be. I am more willing to except that I am not an island. I think its been an important lesson. Am I growing up? Weird.

But I have to say, reading all of your sweet comments, and hearing what you are thankful has given me some peace, and reminded me how thankful I am for so much. Also, tonight will be the first night that I personally get to make something with LizzyDish! That's a little exciting.

Anyway... I thought I would say hi from Rexburg, and I miss my best friend.

A LizzyDish contest. But Baby, it's cold outside!

I am having the hardest time staying warm!!! It has come to me carrying a quilt with me most places I go. Like Linus. I don't mind. Also, we don't seem to have a heater anymore, why? I'm not sure. But I have taken to turning on the oven, boiling some tea, and drinking it in front of the oven door, open. It works.

I have been hugged so much in the past week, that I have been overflowing with happiness. Makes me want to give more hugs. It's not that I don't like being hugged, I guess I am just all about how people go about it. Does that make sense? Some people have entitlement issues, and I have issues with them.

LizzyDish! has been made into its first quilt! What a dream Mom I have. It's called HouseWares. Which is funny for two reasons. 1. It's my last name. 2. LizzyDish is kitchen stuff, and in essence, house wares...

i'm just kidding around. But really though... don't be afraid to use the utensils in a quilt.

Also, for those of you peeps who haven't seen all of the fabric you can go to Andovers website, and check it all out.

I am finishing some printing this week for all my Etsy Christmas stuff. And let me just say If you are into whales and the like... this is your Christmas. Also, with the first 5 purchases on Friday I will include a set of Cathedral Cards. Cool huh?

ps to all that. I have a whole stack of LizzyDish waiting to be something. Maybe it wants to be a give-away? Finally I have a little time to do something. What should it be? It isn't out in stores until December I am told, so would anyone want to be the recipient of some  contraband LizzyDish!? Say a stack of 12 fat quarters? You certainly could make something from that...

Thursday night was the BFA show, and I could not have been happier with how it went. This has really just been a dream weekend: getting to see my family (Luke, Ashlee, Melissa and my Grandma!), having a successful opening, seeing so many friends at the show, having a great party, spending time with my dear dear friends Courtney and Kurt, and Benjamin...Here are some pictures from the night. I will post some pics of the actual pieces in a couple of days.

At the Zoo.

I just thought I would share this project I have been working on. Something besides my BFA... It's called "At the Zoo". I had to make a poster for a fake event, so I turned to my old pal, Paul Simon, for a little inspiration. The cool thing, was that I was required to make a 20x30 print of it. 

I worked out the composition, photographed it and worked on it a little in the computer. Thanks to Ben "Steed" Griffin for his help. I would be lost in a world of Photoshop without him. Also, he took me to the copy place to get the print made. So he really deserves my good grade is what I'm saying...  Just giving credit where credit is due.

My short little legs crack me up. This poster cracks me up. I never realized how big a 20x30 poster was until I had to make/print/pay for one. Is this the beginning of a new line of fabric??? Maybe it is... and maybe it is. How's that for a sneak peek?

BFA Announcement!

I'm finished printing, and I will finish framing this afternoon! We hang the show on the 18th, and it opens on the 20th. If you are in town you should come by.

I just need a hug.

 

San Francisco was great, and the weather was perfect. I was worried about leaving right in the middle of things (finishing my BFA project), but I was pleasantly surprised at the good it did me. It was really good to not have to be in charge of my life for a couple of days... I just let my professors worry about things... cheers to that! I made a great new friend! Also, It was so good to see sooo many beautiful things. It's like refilling your proverbial lamp of images and creativity, and what have you. So many good fabric ideas!!! There always seem to be a lot of tourist in San Francisco.... kind of like Paris in June. I want to say that I am grateful to the peeps of San Fran for graciously sharing their city with everyone, all the time. I have pics and an illustrated journal, both of which I will share in the near future.

my current status.

i've been under a lot of stress lately... BFA, graduating, moving, working, having to get a life... all that business and it really does wear on you. I try and just deal with things one day at a time, hour by hour... but I really feel like I have been doing a commendable job at not freaking out, and remembering to eat. But it gets to the end of the day, and I am just tired all over. Printmaking is a very physical/ labor intensive form of art. So here's the deal. I'm not a very touchy feely person... I'm only an arm toucher, but I don't really give hugs... i don't know why I would receive them... but I really feel like a hug would make me feel better. Like I actually need one, or even more than one if needs be. A crazy tight, pop your back, make you safe again, hug. After not being hugged for a while... I think I might feel a little empty? Is that weird? does anyone know what I'm talking about? I feel like a good hug might be a cure all at this time.

I also need a good haircut. That would probably solve problems too.

I just forget sometimes, that I am not an island.

hey peeps!

I just wanted to say that I am taking off again. One of my last requirements to graduate is a travel class (because I've never gone anywhere, and or seen anything before...) So, early tomorrow we are taking a trip to San Francisco. I am looking forward to sleeping for the entire drive. That's a gift of mine. Sleeping when I don't have anything else to do, wherever I am. Airplanes, airports, buses, class, movie theatres, couches, cars, church... the list goes on.

Anyway. I will report when I get back on Sunday! Have a great week!
