This block actually goes underneath the block of text I showed you earlier. But I was testing it to see if I needed to cut more, and I really liked it, and we ran out of process yellow and all we had was a cad yellow, so I knew I wasn't going to start printing the edition, but I didn't want to waste the ink... So I did this. It will be a very small edition as the printing is hardly even, but it was nice to finish something.

t-shirt

i've been asked to do a t-shirt for the Playmill Theatre. They were looking for something new, and I figured I could probably do that for them. This will be sold in the lobby before and after the shows. If you are ever in Yellowstone, on the Montana side, you should catch a show. They do a really great job.

Happy Saint Patrick's day, and happy birthday to Jennifer Jimison!

Today was a surprisingly good day. I got most of what I needed to accomplished, the weather was nice, I finished a book, started a new print, got a really nice critique on a new watercolor piece, spent some time with my little sister, and went to a birthday party.  Now, if I can just get through tomorrow, this won't be such a bad week. I'm giving a persuasive speech on the dangers and evils of partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats. Oh what fun.

yellow and black

this is the fabric for my new quilt that I'll work on through the summer. My Mirror Ball Dots got in yesterday from ChristaQuilts and I was so impressed with the gold. I only ordered half a yard because I wasn't sure of what the yellow was like, as I had never seen it in person. It was perfect, so I immediately placed an order for more... whatever. I  have always been drawn to yellow and black. I don't exactly know what that means, because for the most part when we are drawn to something there is usually a psychological explanation.

I had a professor who was able to explain to me why I have a tendency towards tall vertical formats. I told her a little bit about my family situation and my home, and she had me draw three little sketches and sign my name, and she was able to tell me things about myself that I had never told her before. It was frighteningly cool. She even said that I probably couldn't handle squares and would have to turn them on their sides, like a diamond to make it taller.... I think it is so interesting that it is written in us, why we do the things that we do, or at least have a tendency towards doing.

I'M GOING HOME!

and I mean it! I just haven't had a break for a while, and April is the nicest time in Texas. First I was going to go back to Belgium, and then I wasn't going to be able to go anywhere, because I am working on some NEW designs, but I decided that it was too important to not take a break. Everybody needs to recharge, you know? This is also a really good thing, because my mother can help me get started on my new quilt, and I'll get to hang out with Stella for about 15 minutes, which is always pleasant.

I've never been tagged before... until now. Annie Smith of Simple Arts and Quilting Stash the first podcast for quilters, so kindly called me "wunderkind." I met Annie and Kirsten at fall market last year, and we really had a lot of fun. I am so excited to see them again in MAY!

this is the tag part...Seven things you probably don't know about me...

1. I'm synesthetic!
2. I'm left handed
3. and dyslexic. When I was doing theatre at home, the only way that I could memorize my lines was by putting them to song (thank you School House Rock). The synesthesia, left handedness, and dyslexia actually all tie together in a functional/dysfunctional sort of way.
4. I love Geology, and was considering going into it for environment conservation
5. I wanted to be an animator for Disney, as well as a singing voice when I was a young child
6. I have always wanted to open a cafe/ bookstore/ gallery/ venue
7. I want a wind farm

now you know all my secrets. For me, when I find out peoples secrets it just helps me get them better presents.

an a+ weekend

This weekend end my little sister Ashlee came up to play a show. She really has only gotten better, and that in an of itself is impressive. It was so nice to spend a little bit of time with her. I think the only reason I was able to keep her over night was because I promised her some really good food...my pesto pizza, and curried vegetable potpie. This was the first time i've seen her since Christmas. It's a bummer not living closer... or having a car I guess.

with all the House girls together this weekend, we had a lot of people wishing they too were House's. Boys and Girls alike, but for different reasons... all legitimate though.

PS. I refuse to acknowledge that it's cold outside anymore.

I have a new quilt in the works. I probably won't be able to start it until the semester is over, but it's running around in my head. Yellow and Black (with charcoal gray) I want to make something a little more graphic than the last. I don't know if they were SO last year, or what, but I am still obsessed with Michael Miller Mirror Ball dots, and very few places still have them, but if you go to ChristaQuilts.com she does! Tonight was a lot of fun. The show at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho opened! It is an exhibit explaining and showing all the different processes in printmaking, and we were asked to show our work. It really is such an incredible thing to be showing in a museum! We all had a good time, and we dressed up, and the response to our work was overwhelming. Also, some really good news! I sold two pieces to the museum to be a part of their permanent collection. Cool huh?

Last semester the museum also bought two of Amy's prints to be a part of the permanent collection as well as key pieces to the show. We all shed a tear.

well, it's true.

i'll post some prints in the next couple of days, and you can check in my etsy shop in a few days for some of them, and some of my books. I'm not crazy about opening the shop up, but I will. It was a great night!

a fact is a fact

I have SUPER sensitive skin! Ever since I was a small child, it has been an issue. Wearing stage makeup was always the worst thing ever, but having really sensitive skin makes it really hard to find products that are accommodating and effective. It seems like every time I would find a product that worked they would discontinue it. Well, a couple of months ago I was at Walgreen's, desperately searching for a face wash with out certain ingredients, and the only one that I found was the Walgreen's brand that seemed to be mimicking a specialty brand out of Bath and Body Works (which they stopped carrying). I WAS SOOO skeptical, but I went ahead and got it. The design (and color) of the bottle was decent enough for me to not be too afraid. To my surprise it was an incredible product, and what is even more interesting is that it is gentle enough to be used as a face soap, and whatever enough to be a multi-purpose cleaner. I don't know how it works, it just does. Well, the point of this is, that I went in today, because I used it all, and it wasn't there. I got a little upset. Like I said, everything that I find that works, they (the man) discontinues. I asked the lady working if she knew what happened to it, and sure enough, they have stopped producing it. BUT! She had all the ones she had taken off the shelf, and they were marked to $1.50 each. She had three, so I bought three. It's hard to find products that work, and once you do, they disappear. Why is that? So run to Walgreen's and see if they have any of this soap, it's a great product and at $1.50 a really good buy
