Being home in Texas, I am without 99% of my arts supplies. I can't make books, I can't paint, I certainly can't print. I have been separated from my great paper collection. Does this mean that I altogether stop doing whatever it is that I do?... the answer is no... I turn to what has been here for the past 15 years, and what will be here till we are here no more. School Supplies!!!!
I was making a prize for someone the other day, and I needed some supplies so I started rummaging around. I found some colored card stock, I pulled a pen I brought home from my bag, and I found some Elmer's Glue. I have not used Elmer's glue in.... 4 years? No I take that back, I used Elmer's to cover my holiday snowflakes in glitter, the past couple of Christmases. For me, having fewer supplies, for whatever reason yields better results. Take for instance when I was making my portfolio and I had every item on earth that you might need at my disposal and it took me nearly three days to finish because I couldn't figure it out. I think having less encourages invention. That's what my childhood was anyway.
Also, I have been piecing together a dragon! I think his name will be Alvin. I really love the idea of taking one of my drawings, and essentially making them come to life, by sewing them IE stuffed dragon a rare specialty. I don't really have a pattern, I am just making it up as I go, but really now, when have I ever had a pattern? While I am home, I will be able to assemble a couple of my drawings. They should be fun, if not to make, at least to look at. More Lizzy birds too.
