Can I just say something? Go to Paris. Just go. It might just be one of the best things you ever do for yourself. If you are an artist you just need to go. If you love art, you need to go. If you want to love art Go just go. I will tell you when I went in August I was so scared. I went by myself and I met some people there. At quite a few points I was ready to turn around and not go, because I was tired...or didn't feel like it was a great idea anymore... I am really good at talking myself out of things. But once I got into the Charles de Gaulle International Airport, I was really scared, but I cooled out and had one of the best weeks of my entire life, and I seriously was affected.
I have been in Rexburg for the past 4 years almost, and there isn't much here. I do a show everyonce in a while, make someone lunch, go to the public library or I go walking up to the temple, and past all the potato fields, and it is truly beautiful. There are lots of beautiful things here, and wonderful people. But as far as creative resevoirs are concerned, they seem to get all tapped out at a rather rapid rate. So I have to take a trip. I have to leave Rexburg, even if it's just to Yellowstone, I have to go somewhere and be filled with new images, and new feelings. Paris for me was a year supply. I am going back in June for a friends wedding and I am so excited to inspired once again.
So just take a trip, it doesn't have to be Paris, it can be anywhere. But for you, take a trip and get a little new insight and a few new sketches. It will do you and your work some good.
