So this summer I am going to be doing a lot of traveling. Our semester is really short (we start Monday the 16th and end July 18th). I have a wedding to go to in Paris at the beginning of June, and then I am going down to Brazil and Argentina with some friends simply to fulfill a dream of always wanting to go to Brazil. Let's hope that one works out because my travel companions are still a little up in the air. Anyway... That is a lot of air time so I am going to start hand piecing a postage stamp quilt. My mom is helping me get all the squares ready because for some reason I have a hard time cutting a straight line with a ruler.
So we went to the local quilt store today to find a back and a binding to a quilt that she has designed. I was begging her to make it bigger so it could be for me instead of someones baby. We found some great purple fabric that looked really retro and pulled the whole thing together nicely. Well, I liked the fabric so much I found it in every color they had for my little airplane postage stamp project. I might also start doing some intricate applique to make the very most of my time. Who knows I might even get these boys I am traveling with quilting. We can start a new trend and then they will sell postage stamp quilts at Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. Oh, and that is my favorite green. It's got more blue than a kelly green and the dots were acceptable. I had a great time with my mom.
One other thing! My little sister Melissa and I are making a dress right now. I will post a picture when it is in a better state than a pile. Hooray for handmade clothing!!!
It's nice to be home
