By know, I am sure the entire world is aware of the tragedy at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. My son is Spc. Luke House, command executive assistant, STB, III Corp, at Fort Hood, and was working yesterday when the horrible events transpired. I thank God with all my heart that he was not harmed or injured, but I am so saddened about the lives that will be forever devastated by what happened.
What can we do to help? Quilts. We can comfort them with quilt.
I would like to gather 31 quilts to provide for the soldiers that were wounded yesterday. Currently the wounded are divided between three hospitals in the Fort Hood/Killeen areas.
Would you help? Do you have a quilt to spare?
If you do, please leave a comment, or email me at cherryhousequilts at gmail dot com
I would like to do this as soon as possible...I will provide an address to ship the quilts to, and we will get them to the Fort Hood Chaplain, who will deliver these to the wounded in the hospitals.
Thank you,
Cherri
i have a pink quilt that I would be happy to send. My prayers are with all the soldiers and families affected by this. julie

Cherri,
I am a wife AND mother to two wonderful soldiers. Mine are safe and were not affected by the tragedy at Fort Hood directly. As members of the Army family we are both saddened and determine to move forward. I would be honored to send a quilt or two- I have a lap size quilt that is finished and another that just needs binding. Let me know where to send them and they will be out by Monday morning! I have several Quilts of Valor ready to ship if you will tell me how many and where to send them.

Cherri,
I have a 52" X 64" BQ made with a beautiful Michael Miller "All Over Roses" fabric, originally destined for a local VA hospital that I would gladly send. It would be appropriate for a woman. I still have not heard how many of the wounded and killed were men, and how many were women. But I think I did hear that one of the wounded was a pregnant woman. Let me know where to send it, if you think they could use it.

If someone wants to piece a top & quilt it I have 12+ blocks from a patriotic swap I did that I can donate. I can also send fabric for sashing, backing and binding. {I just unfortunately do not have the time myself right now because of my family} Please e-mail me if you are interested!

It was a terrible tragedy, and affected us greatly. At mass today there wasn't a dry eye in sight. These quilts will do so much good, and the comfort from ya'll will be felt. Thankyou

I'm a military wife at Wright-Patterson, and my group just finished three red, white, and blue quilts to be given to wounded soldiers. We would be honored to sent them to our soldiers at Ft Hood. If you still need quilts, let me know, and I can mail them tomorrow.

Please let me know what recipients have received your quilts so that we don't double up for those who have received them. If we can coordinate efforts that would be fantastic. I received 16 quilts today and have about 4 or 5 more tops and tons of signature blocks that have been coming from all over the united states. We are sending the signature quilts to the families of the deceased. You can see my info here: http://www.splintersandthreads.com/signature-quilt-ideas
