A Challenge and a Giveaway!

We like to have giveaways around here, but I thought we might try something new...a challenge, plus a giveaway! 

The Giveaway: A fat quarter bundle from Robert Kaufman  featuring 4 Kona Cotton Solids, and three super cute fat quarters from Amy Schimler.

The Challenge: What would you create with it?  Considering it's almost 2 yards of fabric...you could do something pretty great don't you think?

Would you create a little quilt, or a super wonderful bag?  If my girls were still little, I'd be making some kind of flouncy skirt with a little top.  So what would you make?  Leave a comment, and share your ideas!  The top three ideas will win a fat quarter bundle...everyone is welcome to enter...a contest without borders!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to announce the winner of Annie Smith's 11 week beginner quilting class is Celeste!  She doesn't have a blog (that I know of), but I'm hoping she will communicate back with us, and let us know how she is enjoying the experience.

I DO too!

Another day, another pattern...must be time for Market! 

Words cannot express how much I love this fabric - it is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time.  It was the perfect fabric for the next quilt in our I Do series.  Lizzy and I have been having lots of fun thinking of names for the quilts to follow...i do more; i do as well...you get the idea! 

So if you love circles, and you love this amazing Moda fabric I DO suggest you create our latest I DO!!! 

In creating this quilt, and playing with it once it was complete, I discovered that 51'' x 51'' not only makes a great size for a wall hanging, but it is also a great lap size quilt, plus this quilt would be perfect for the coolest baby on earth!

We hope you will cherish and enjoy these traditional quilts, reminiscent of the past - as treasured as a dear letter from a loved one

 

Best Wishes was created using Moda's 3 Sisters' Aster Manor Fat Quarter Bundle.  These delicate florals, and beautiful paisley prints work perfectly for this very traditional pattern.

Two options included with the pattern are a paper pieced block, as well as rotary cutting instructions.

2nd giveaway in one week!!! Teleclass with Annie Smith

Two giveaways in one week...can you believe it?  How about a drawing for an 11 week online class with Annie Smith beginning October 2nd.  The class is geared for beginning quilters, creating a sampler, with beginning techniques taught.  Does this sound perfect for you, or a dear friend who wants to learn to quilt?  If so, sign right up!   

Before you do, let me tell you a little something about Annie...she must be, without a doubt, one of the kindest quilters in the industry.  To know her is to love her!  I'll never forget meeting her, and the blessing that it was, being seated next to her, at Lizzy & I's first industry dinner.  I was so nervous and anxious; and who should I be seated next to, an Angel!  Truly, she couldn't have been more kind or more welcoming, and I will always be grateful for that encounter.

Kits, more kits, and a giveaway!!!

Since we began our quilt pattern business, quilters have been asking for fabric kits for our patterns.  No suitable solution has been found; until now. 

Cherry House Quilts is combining efforts with Seaside Quilting Supplies who will create custom kits from CHQ patterns.   

How will this work?  You purchase your pattern here, and give Barb @ Seaside Quilting a call, or email her with the CHQ pattern name, and the style of fabric or color story you are looking for.  Barb will create a custom quilt kit just for you! 

 Here is Barb in her own words explaining their services...Here at Seaside we specialize in creating custom kits! Just choose a pattern, give us a general idea-"masculine, feminine, retro, blue, green, etc" and we will coordinate fabrics for you. We love working out the details with our customers...

We are so excited to offer this service to our dear customers who would rather leave the fabric selection to someone else, and have more time for quilting; something we all need!

Quilting Season is upon us

Quilting season is upon us - Fall and Spring Market - we live by this schedule.  Fall Market is two weeks early this year, and it seems as if the entire industry is scrambling to fit so much work into two weeks less time. 

I've literally just finished these two quilts, and shipped them to Lizzy for a photo shoot, and pattern covers.  They couldn't be more different stylistically; one is very contemporary, and the other is completely traditional.  The patterns will be out soon...just in time for Market!

 

I Do Too...I love this Moda Authentic fabric soooooo much!  If you love it too, I recommend buying it early, I have a feeling it will fly off of the shelves.

Wee Play Winner!

It's almost not Saturday anymore so I must hurry up an announce the winner...

In the works...

There is so much going on it is a challenge to keep up with it all...quilts, kids, market...all exciting, all lots of work!

Let's start with kids, namely Miss Elizabeth House...Lizzy to you, is home for a visit, and to even add more excitement, I think Ashlee and Melissa are coming home too!!!  Luke and Becky will have little Benjamin blessed (christened) on Sunday, so it will be a wonderful family gathering - which truly is the best thing in the world to me.  When all my children are together, I am at my happiest - completely, joyfully, gratefully happy! 

Next is quilts of course, to be honest it is quilts, quilts, quilts...new patterns, market around the corner, that kind of thing. 

I DO believe that all of our I DO fans will be pleased with an up and coming pattern using Moda's amazing Authentic line - I can't tell you how much I love that fabric!  Circles, circles, and more circles...gotta love it!

And on the heels of that new quilt and pattern will be the next quilt in our City Series called City Breeze...this will be our first pattern with two size options offered, one size will be a large quilt, and the other size will be our Baby Breeze for little ones.  Check out these glorious colors of Kona Cotton Solids from Robert Kaufman for City Breeze.
