Anniversary Time! 2 years baby!!!

Our little baby Cherry House Quilts is almost 2 years old...I guess that means we will be going into our terrible terrific two's!!!  You won't believe what's coming up this year...exciting stuff!  This was our first logo, Lizzy said we needed more polish, so it didn't last long. 

Some of you have been with us from the very beginning, and we thank you so much...we <3 you! 

Our first quilt pattern was City Scapes, which has been selling like hotcakes lately, which is always grand.  You've been with us from my first grandbaby - Alton, and now another little one is on the way.  You've also been with us through Melissa going to college, Ashlee's first CD, our first Market :-), Lizzy's first line of fabric Lizzy Dish, to her college graduation, and BFA, through Red Letter Day, and her big move to Portland.  Ashlee's working on her second album, Melissa's on her way to Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, and I'm knocking out quilts faster than I thought possible.  

Lizzy and I most humbly, and kindly thank you for your friendship, support, and kindness.  This journey has been more wonderful than we could have imagined because of all of you!  We have come along way, and the best is yet to come.

Big OOOOPS

I had made some minor changes to the I DO Quilt Pattern, and some of the patterns that have been distributed through my pattern stores, as well as through Brewers and Hancock's of Paducah are missing the 4'' circle diagram.

In case you purchased the pattern, and are missing the circle...here it is Download I do stand alone circle

I am so sorry for any confusion; I'll get everything corrected, and the universe will be right again :-)

Got a new toy!

 

I splurged, and purchased a new camera...it's a Canon SD 990 IS...i'm so excited about my new toy!  I always feel a little unworthy in the blogging world because I'm not a great photographer, but I'm trying, and that has to count for something.  Lizzy (who is a great photographer), say's you're a designer, designer your shots; good point!  Ashlee has always been into filming making, and she has tried numerous times to get the rule of 1/3's in my head; she too is a good photographer.  Well, I have the equipment now, so I'm going to try harder.  This is downtown Houston this morning, as I've said before I love downtown Houston!  I don't know if it's because I missed Spring Market, but I'm already getting excited for Fall Market, which thankfully, is downtown.

Here's another photo...I really like the gradation of color between the buildings.

Constellation...our newest quilt pattern!

 

Introducing our newest quilt pattern Constellation, featuring Robert Kaufman's new Posie fabrics in a wonderful batik.  We designed the quilt in two color stories...the blue above, and in toasty spice.  Our Constellation quilt combines the best of classic quilt blocks such as the Friendship Star, and the Nine Patch Block. 

These fabrics are so rich and beautiful, picking a favorite would be very difficult.  Here's the Spice version, great for the gents in your life that favor something a little a little more masculine.  Father's Day is just around the corner!

I was going to say that I get to cross off one item from the list I posted here, but I forgot to add this to the list, so I don't even get to cross it off.  Stayed, so much more to come!

Happy Mother's Day!

       Happy Mother's day to everyone!  Whether you are a Mom, a step Mom, an Aunt, or a Mom to 4 legged kids; I hope you have a wonderful day!  Last year was my first Mother's day without any of my children home, and I cried the whole day :-(  This year I'm doing much better, which is good!  My sweet son and his family sent me flowers, which is always such a treat! 

Life has been going a hundred miles an hour it seems, and I haven't been able to post as much as I would like.  I do thank you for your sweet comments and thoughtful emails - they mean the world to me! 

Let me share a few things that are in the works...

• A new project for Fons and Porters
• A special pattern for _____________, utilizing ____________ fabric.  (Some details, huh?)
• A new pattern for Cherry House Quilts, created with some new 3 Sisters fabric from Moda!!!
• An interview for EQ newsletter
• Lizzy's move to Portland
• Melissa's move to Baltimore
• A new grandbaby due in August

Market is next week, and I'm sad to not be going...it just wouldn't be the same without Lizzy, and that girl couldn't it make cuz she's starting her new life in Portland.  **NEWSFLASH** I just got off of the phone with her - she made it safe, and she loves  her new place!

She's a real quilter now!

Would you look at this?  My girl Lizzy is officially a quilter now!!!  This is her quilt Marble Champ...check out her blog where she explains the meaning behind the quilt, and through several post she also explains the meaning behind several of the pieces in her Red Letter Day collection.  Something that you will learn about my girl is that everything has meaning, everything is about the whole, and that everything is part of a grand plan.

Something else about Lizzy that I'll share is this...if she says that she has "seen it in her head, and knows how it will work" just get out of her way, and let her get to it.  It won't do any good to argue with her, or explain to her the reasons why it won't work, because she has worked it out already in her mind, and she knows that it will work.  It always does, everytime.

This is such an accomplishment for her, she designed the fabric, created the quilt design, made the quilt, quilted the quilt, made the binding for the quilt, and did the binding.  This amazing girl of mine, I'm just so proud of her!!!  She has been surrounded by quilts all her life, and has always loved them, but to make this leap, and truly become a quilter in her own right - WOW - words fail me.
