It's that time again, time to saddle up, and get ready for Fall Market. It's hard to believe that one year ago Lizzy and I attended our first Market. We were excited, nervous, but ready to meet the quilting world! It didn't hurt that the quilting world came to our town, and that Lizzy has been attending Quilt Festival with me since she was a little girl.
We had a tradition in our home, every year when I went to quilt festival one of the children would be allowed to skip school for the day, and go with me to downtown Houston. They took turns, and depending on their schedules, sometimes more than one of the children would get to join me. For lunch we would always make a trek across multiple roads to have the best asian dumplings in Houston. Ordering from there is akin to the Soup Nazi, but soooo worth it.
Back to Market - hopefully by now everyone has had the chance to read about our adventures at our first Market. We were so green, and unaware of how it all worked. I still remember standing in awe at Moda's aisles of displays. Lizzy is certain that their booths must be built by a set design company, it is so massive.
Preparations have begun in earnest for all of the quilts that I am making for Fall Market, and a few other events. Be on the look out for some amazingly cool fruit prints from Robert Kaufman! As soon as I saw a preview of them I knew exactly what I wanted to create. Also we will be debuting our latest City Quilt, called City Fair...it's pretty awesome.
Take care everyone!

Breathtaking picture of the horse!
Good luck with all the creative quilt-designing stuff!
I hope I will ever be able to go to Houston. To visit the quilt festival. To eat gorgeous meals. To meet friends. Who knows. Ever!

I really hope I can make it this year...I'm having surgery mid-September, and I'm hoping if I can't walk very long that maybe I can score one of those Scooter things! lol!
I've been meaning to ask you...would you mind if I put a link to you on my sidebar? (I hope you remember who I am...lol! I'm the one who won a bunch of fabric scraps from you and met you in Starbucks.)
