Okay my quilty friends...I'm reaching out in need of assistance! It's time for me to grow up, and face some realities (never a fun way to start a post)
- I have too much fabric
- I have more fabric than I WILL EVER USE
- My pioneer heritage will not allow me to throw it away
- Lizzy says it's time (past time really), and sometimes that girl is the grownup, and I'm the 7 yr old :(
So here goes; I probably have at least 2 BIG garbage size bags of strips and strings (that I love), but cannot fathom having time to use, and I must find a home for them. Is anyone part of the Heartstrings group? If not, do you have any Heartstring friends in the Houston (Humble) area. I think they would just be too expensive to ship. This is excellent fabric - quilt shop quality fabric. It will be hurty to get rid of them, sort of like getting rid of teddy bears, and dolls, but I must...it is time.
So, if anyone is interested in coming to pick them up, they are yours for the taking. Please spread the word, and tell your quilty friends. Just leave me a comment, or email me at cherryhousequilts(at)gmail(dot)com.
Okay...I can do this.

You could always send that 7 year old off to boarding school and keep the fabric ;)
Wish I lived closer but I do hope that someone that can USE it comes along.

this is very generous of you to do this.. I know there a lot of makers out there doing 'quilts of valour' for your injured soldiers and just sent your post to a lady I know is doing them..
Happy day to you!

You are going to feel great knowing that the scraps are going to warm others' hearts. You're doing the right thing!

Didn't know there was someone in my area! Our group meets once a month at our church in Humble. We've discussed making some quilts for the service men we know and haven't done it. When we get together this week, I'll see if they would be interested in some of your strings. Would that be ok??

Project Linus would probably take them. Here is their chapter contact for Houston: http://www.projectlinus.org/chapter.php?StateKey=TX#tgt
It looks like there is a chapter of Quilts for Kids in Houston: http://www.quiltsforkids.org/
I hope you can get connected with a great charity!

There are many, many women in the Humble guild that do charity work. Are you affiliated with that group? I'm in Corpus and won't be back to that area for quite a while. If you haven't yet gotten "rid" of the fabric, drop me a note and I will contact one of them.

I sent mine to the Humanitarian Center. A local DI will ship it for you. Made me feel good to provide quilt materials for hurricane, tsunami victims etc. I called them about scraps and I believe they even take small scraps. Have a wonderful market you two. I'm soooo proud of your girl. Gooo lizzy!
