This week's books - 3 this week, I'll explain in a minute...

Thinking Outside the Block by Sandi Cummings.  It's a beautiful book with lots of great ideas, techniques, photos.  I saw one of her quilts a few years ago at Quilt Festival - it was amazing!

Next, New Wave Quilt Collections, and New Wave Quilt Collections II.  They go together - I couldn't break up a pair

   

The covers are white - I'm sorry if you aren't able to see these very well.  The insides are amazing though!

This week's question - Art Quilts, Traditional Quilts, or Contemporary Quilts - What is your preference, what kind of quilter are you?

I'm more of an contemporary quilter, or traditional with a twist!  I'm afraid I'll never make a Baltimore Album Quilt - I just don't have it in me.

I've been tagged, plus more day for this week's drawing

I've been tagged by sweet Kirsten Smith...I've never been tagged before, this is a new one. 

This is me in in Kindergarten...I love this photo.  Seven things about me, where to begin?

1. I, like Lizzy am left handed, and dyslexic - I've done quite a bit of studying on the subject, and I believe that it has greatly influenced our lives.
2. I am a single parent, it has been the hardest, most wonderful "calling" in the world. My four amazing children are my best friends, the only sad part about them growing up, is that they are grown up. I miss them with all of my heart.
3. I used to be a florist - how I love flowers! I had my very own little flower garden when I was about 13. Flowers/fabric/color - they all vie for favorites in my book.
4. I love, love, love England. Like Kirsten I spent some time there, and I loved it so much!
5. If I had buckets of money I would live in Fairhope, Alabama...it such a beautiful place. Does anyone realize what great food they have in Alabama? Oyster Shack anyone?
6. If I had endless buckets of money I'd live 1/2 of the year in Savannah, Georgia, and the other 1/2 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
7. I love to travel - I work for Continental Airlines, and this has been a huge blessing to my family and myself. The girls have been able to see places that they may have never had the opportunity to visit. Melissa is getting ready to go to France, and the UK...lucky duck!

There's still time - Quilt Book Giveaway

               It's not too late to participate in our Free Quilt Book Drawing!   This week's books are Foundation Borders by Hall & Haywood, and Beyond the Blocks by Nancy Martin.  We will be giving away these two new books on Sunday.  Have you entered yet?  This week's question has to do with Quilt Borders - Yes or No, always, sometimes, never???  So far we've had a mixed response...one person has never made a quilt without a border, some use borders to get the quilt to a particular size, little Thimbleanna said "how about a quilt just made of borders", and Kathie likes the utilitarian look of quilts without borders.  I agree...so many vintage quilts - the hardworking, meant to be used everyday of the week quilts didn't have borders...those are my favorites!  I so appreciate everyone's comments - it has been a fascinating opportunity these past few weeks to have been able to share in your quilting world.  What are your feelings about quilt borders?  Leave a comment here, and let us know what you think.

Quick Stella Story

This morning as I was leaving my room I found a rechargeable battery on my floor...I couldn't figure out how on earth it got there, the last time I had them they were on the computer desk.  As I left my room I found another one in the hall - then it dawned on me, Stella brought the batteries to my door, and managed to actually roll one underneath.  My sweet kitty Stella, she takes her job of delivering my mislayed objects so seriously.  I think about the logistics of what she accomplished.  First fishing those batteries, one at a time from the desk, carrying them up the stairs one at a time, then rolling it under the door.  Poor tired kitty - she must have worked all night.  Well, she does get plenty of rest sleeping on my quilting projects.

Progress Report & A Winner!

Where to begin???

Saturday I sent this baby off to Fons & Porter for their magazine, I am so excited!!!  The fabric is from the Jitterbug Fabric Line by Cosmo Cricket through Andover Fabrics.  The quilt is scheduled to be in the August issue.

That little notebook is my constant companion these days, I'd be completely lost without it.  Lizzy made me a whole stack of them, soon I'll need more!

Half of the quilting on City News is done, I can't wait to finish this quilt, and have the pattern available.
